During lockdown I needed something to help me stay focused and decided to take the plunge into redesigning my old RC car.  It was a Nitro 4wd off road buggy and I wanted to keep some of the important components and turn it into a 2wd road car. The first step was recreating the base plate and other components in fusion 360.  Everything is to scale to make it easy to design my own components that could be later 3D printed. I then set about designing the front and rear suspension making sure it would all function in the digital world before printing out the various components. Going into the project fresh I realised organisation would be my biggest enemy with the amount of items on the car so made sure it was all categorised for quick access.

I started to print about half of the car on my 3D printer and test fit the components and it all worked. The canterlever suspension didnt bind and the front suspension could go through its full travel range. The project did however go on the backburner after the first lockdown finished and I had to return to work but it's a project I will definitely return to in the future.
